Points to Consider with Granite

Incredibly durable and resists both heat and scratches.

Quartz (the key mineral in Granite) is one of nature’s strongest materials.

Available in a wide variety of colors.

Extremely versatile.

Available in many finishes, such as polished, matte, antique and honed.

A wide variety of edge treatments are available.

Due to extreme hardness of the material, special diamond cutting tools must be used in fabrication.

Thick nesses are available in ¾” (2cm) and 1 1/8” (3cm).

Exact thick nesses, however are not guaranteed.

Can withstand exposure to normal cooking temperatures from pots, pans and dishes without being damaged.

Not just for countertops, granite can be used for tub surrounds, stairs, fireplaces, mantles, etc.

Granite is NOT stain proof. In case of staining, a poultice can be used.

Color availability depends on rarity of type of granite.

Honed granite is more prone to scratching, etching and staining.

Granite requires regular sealing with an impregnator to prevent wear, staining and to promote UV stability.

Avoid acid (i.e. lemon juice, vinegar, etc) as it can wear through seal.

Requires a seam for anything outside the normal size of a slab.

Color consistency cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of the stone.

Avoid exposing surface to strong chemicals and solvents, especially paint removers of furniture strippers.

Keep nail polish remover, bleach, bluing, permanent markers or inks, and oil soaps away from the surface.

Granite does not carry any warranty due to the nature of the stone.
